The Foreword to the Second Edition contains a lot of historical information so we will will spend several programs looking at it. When the first edition was published in 1939 people didn’t think such an historical review was really necessary for what seemed to them like very recent events. But by 1955 when the Second Edition was published much had happened. Our co-founder, Doctor Bob, was now dead about 5 years, and many others had passed as well. So it seemed like a good time to capture the history of those early days.
